- Welcome to Black Bear Lodge cabin in beautiful Black Bear Hollow, Wears Valley, Tennessee. Black Bear Hollow is a privately owned gated community that offers a small number of secluded cabins. Black Bear Lodge sits on 5 acres and is situated in an area that is central to all the attractions and sights there are to see in the Smoky Mountains! There are only 7 cabins on 58 acres in a setting that includes an old growth forest, creek, waterfall, caves and covered pavilion with a fire pit. You and yours will love staying in this unique and special part of the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee!
- Black Bear Lodge is an authentic “hand hewn” log cabin that features a beautiful setting and a cozy wood burning fireplace. The short drive through Black Bear Hollow (maybe viewed on the video tab) is both beautiful and unique. Follow the road along the creek and when you reach the cabin there is plenty of level parking for at least 4 vehicles and the game room entrance is level with the parking (so those sleeping in the downstairs bedrooms will have no stairs to contend with).
- Kids of all age will enjoy using the cabins many amenities including the game room with a pool table, card table and LED television. The main level is where you will next find the living room with the high vaulted ceilings, wood burning fireplace and door leading to the back deck. On the back deck is the gas grill, hot tub and patio seating. Step off the deck and the path leads to the custom fire pit with comfortable seating. The whole family will enjoy sitting around a campfire roasting marshmallows or making s’mores while sharing stories of the day’s adventures.
- There a covered front porch just off the kitchen with rockers where you can enjoy that cup of morning coffee and contemplate the peaceful solitude of the mountains. Black Bear Lodge is so nice you may never want to leave, but the action of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are calling you will like that they are within a a 15 to 30 minute drive of the cabin. If hiking, fishing or sightseeing in the national park are what is on the day’s things to do list, there are two park entrances (one in Wears Valley and the other in Townsend) that are only 10 minutes away.
- Or you may choose to spend the day at the swimming pool enjoying the sunshine. The swimming pool and catch N release fishing pond are a short 5-minute drive away!
- With so much to do you may choose to split your time by spending the day exploring the region, attending an event or festival, going sightseeing, visiting an attraction or tubing in the river and then returning back to the cabin at the end of the day to a relaxing dinner or bar-b-que and a rejuvenate soak in the hot tub.

Secluded cabin
We had such a great time at the Black Bear Lodge cabin. Our group had 9 people and the cabin was a perfect size for us. We loved the seclusion and didn’t see any other people on the property while there. We had fires both inside and out and it was so quiet and peaceful. The morning started with hot tub time and we went hiking one of the days. Being able to avoid the traffic and go straight into the park through the Metcalff Bottoms picnic area was really nice! At night we used the grill, which was in great condition to cook out. The kitchen was well equipped and we appreciated the variety of spices that were provided for us. This was by far one of my favorite cabins and we will be back. Otherwise, this place is amazing!! Be sure to stop by the grocery store down the road (close to Metcalff bottoms and Elvira’s) to get a fried apple or peach pie. They are so good!!

Great cabin for family trip!
This is our second time staying in one of Donn’s cabins. As expected, the cabin was very clean and had all the amenities we needed. My husband and dad loved exploring the grounds at the cabin. My mom and I enjoyed staying by the fireplace inside (it was in the teens one night!) The cabin was great for my dog too! Im not sure who was more sad to leave! Donn has been great to work with. I look forward to the next trip!

Great Cabin
My family so enjoyed our Thanksgiving in this beautiful cabin. I cannot say enough about how great it was and how wonderful the owners treated us. We had everything we needed and more. It was close enough to go to either Townsend or Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg for activities. We will definitely be back ! Thanks for everything.

Loved our visit
The cabin was perfect for our family. We loved the seclusion and quiet. The keypad entry made for an easy arrival and departure. The location was an easy drive to restaurants, shopping, the Smoky’s and to Gatlinburg.

Bear Lodge Cabin vacation
We had a really nice & peaceful stay at the Bear Lodge. The cabin was nice. It is just far enough away to be very peaceful. And close enough to be very handy to get whatever you need. We will be coming back. The valley was a short drive with plenty of things to see & do.

Awesome stay and nice location
Even though Smoky did not have the fall color, but we still enjoyed our stay because of the cabin and the way the things are setup inside. We really enjoyed our stay and that’s was common response from all our 3 friends who stayed with me. We cooked all the days we stayed there for 8 adults. The kitchen was fully equipped with proper size utensils which was a life saver. The location was secured with gate and code. Lots of parking space for 5 to 6 SUVs or car/van. There was enough space for 10 -14 people to hang around and party, BBQ, Grill etc.

Fabulous stay at Bear Lodge Cabin
My family of 5 just returned for a week’s stay at Bear Lodge Cabin. The cabin is just as described, very clean, and stocked with everything we needed to enjoy our stay. We particularly appreciated having “essentials” like a few paper products and coffee already in the cabin when we arrived. The cabin was perfectly located to our areas of interest in the GSMNP and being from the Gulf Coast, the cooler temps and lower humidity were most appreciated. The directions and arrival instructions were clear and easy to follow. We enjoyed our stay at the cabin very much and would recommend staying here to anyone.

Bear Lodge Cabin
We absolutely loved our stay at your cabin in the Smokey Mountains. It felt like a long lost friend had finally come home the minute we walked in the door! The cabin is beautiful and spotlessly clean with large open porches to sit, relax and enjoy the beautiful views. It is situated between Townsend and Pigeon Forge and a stones throw away from the beautiful Smokey Mountains! We would highly recommend staying at Black Bear Hollow and are happily making plans to return next year!!

Perfect Getaway
Our family loves this location!!! It is easy driving distance to both Pigeon Forge and Townsend, but feels much more remote. I love the quiet! The cabin itself was comfortable and true to its online promises. We had a tiny problem with the lock on the door initially, but one quick phone call yielded an immediate response. We also received a follow-up phone call the next morning. Unlike some places we’ve stayed, we felt good about the grandkids playing in the hot tub. They thoroughly enjoyed that, as well as the jacuzzi. I’ve already recommended SMGC to friends. We will be back!

We had an amazing time staying in the Bear Lodge cabin! The place was in excellent condition and looked just like the pictures. We will definitely be coming back for our next Smoky Mountain trip. Supreme Lodging!
Bear Lodge is supreme lodging in every way! It is perfectly located for families who enjoy exploring the national park, while avoiding the bustle of the tourist towns. But, if Gatlinburg, and Pigeon Forge do spark your interests, Bear Lodge is convienantly located with easy access to either one. We found the cabin to be perfectly clean, with every luxury imaginable!

A great stay!
This is a great spot for a quiet stay away from crowds but with easy access to a pretty amazing national park. The cabin was very comfortable and quiet for times when we wanted to stay in to rest or read or cook – but allowed us to be in the park gawking at wildflowers, flyfishing in mountain streams, or looking for bears within 15 minutes or so. The fireplace got a lot of use this year as well on some chilly nights! This was not our first stay at the Black Bear Hollow Cabins, and I hope that there will be many more in the years ahead!

Awesome Cabin Awesome Weekend
We very much enjoyed our 2 night stay in this beautiful cabin. The location was easy to find and just out of reach of normal life! The cabin was well maintained and very clean. The beds were comfortable. The real fireplace (not gas) was a great touch and a lot of fun as I enjoyed getting to play with fire! We also got plenty of use out of the hot tub and pool table. It was a great weekend and we will be happy to stay in this cabin again.

Bear Lodge
This was our 6th stay in Black Bear Hollow Cabins. We find everything we need in Black Bear Hollow cabins, very nice accomadations, well equiped, the amount of space we need and close but not too close to things we want to do in the Townsend area. The best way to sum up our experience is nothing is a hassle. Will we come again, yes.

Wonderful weekend getaway
My family really enjoyed getting away from the normal and spending quality time together – sitting around the fire pit, making smores, exploring the surrounding woods, playing wiffle ball in the front grass, playing pool at night, the hot tub, etc. We only left the cabin for a few additional supplies. My kids were bugging me to buy the cabin! We will return soon…

Great place to stay
We loved our stay at the Black Bear Lodge. It was a wonderful combination of being close to nature and yet had all the comforts of home (and then some!) Very clean, comfortable bed in master, and all the modern conveniences. The front porch on the second floor felt like we were up in the trees and where we spent most of our time. We would love to come back again in the fall with our whole family.

So peaceful and beautiful
Loved our stay here, extremely romantic, quiet and peaceful. Cottage is gorgeous, we wanted for nothing at all! Everything we needed was at our fingertips. I brought our crock pot and cooked our meals each day while we were out hiking. Got home each night to a warm home cooked meal. We loved sitting in front of the fireplace, sitting outside in the hot tub, sitting outside on the front porch swing, we just loved our stay here!

“Home Away from Home”
We’ve lost count of the number of times that we’ve stayed in Black Bear Hollow. It’s “our home away from home”. We love the peace, serenity, & solitude that we find there. Over the years we’ve stayed in Bear Ridge, Bear Lodge, Bear Creek & Bear Falls and have never encountered any problems or issues. We just recently had our 4 children & spouses & our 8 grandchildren up for a family vacation in Bear Falls & Bear Lodge. They loved the spaciousness of Bear Falls for our family time together. We are already planning our family vacation to be there again next year.

Amazing cabins and wonderful owners
We couldn’t have asked for better accommodations. The cabin was perfect. It was perfected located, a close drive to Pigeon Forge, yet secluded enough to offer privacy. It was exactly as promised on the website. The owners were amazing. They worked with us in every way possible to ensure we had a wonderful Christmas vacation and we couldn’t be more grateful. We will certainly be making Black Bear Hollow our annual accommodation spot from now on. Mr. and Mrs. Tisch are wonderful people and offer the best cabins in the Smokies.
